Supporting the Bill. Shame.
Says: it is my job to assess the impact of this Bill on all my female constituents. Shout out to Pru Goward. If passed into law, ultimately this Bill will criminalise abortion. I cannot support to Bill. Thank you!
Translation: Those who advocate for reproductive choice hate babies and women. New stereotype please, that one is old.
We've only had a super quick look- but it looks like it makes it worse!
Five barristers, Member for Terrigal? I think you mean 5 members of the THomas More Society.10/23/2013 Whoops! Says NSW Bar Association have misrepresented the Bill. Says this is not about the right of a woman to choose. Calling this one as supports the Bill. Referring to Tobin et al again- conveniently neglects to mention that thin is someone who is the Chancellor of a Catholic University who sees it as his job to advocate for anti-choice policy. Now he's calling the Bar Association ignorant! Gold.
Has just called out the NSW AG. Brave. Shout out to FPNSW's Anne Brassil. Refers to US history of personhood. We simply do not know what the ramifications this Bill will have for the common law. It could be used as a springboard for anti-choice laws in the future. Thank you!
Says: I spoke to Karen Willis (R&DVSA) and the Donegans. Is reluctant to make changes to long held legal principles. If this Bill passes, the consequences, unintended or otherwise, will arise. Courts will seek consistency and could well precipitate the consequences that many supporters of this Bill I know do not want to see. Is unable to support this Bill. Thank you Pru.
Says: motivations behind Bill appear to be reasonable. Usual 'it's worded precisely', 'medical procedure' stuff. Will support Bill. Shame!
